About our team
Christine Busby - Co-Founder , CEO
Christine has a background as a professional photographer and producer. She has worked with the Maasai tribe since 2015 on projects dealing with access to clean drinking water, agriculture and education. Most recently, with help from her small team, she’s formed a non-profit, The Hiari Project, and launched a campaign to advocate for gender equality and rights for access to education for women. With a shared goal of giving young girls a choice when it comes to FGM and child marriage. It’s her long term plan is to create a model of this project and invite and train women in their regions to be able to fight against these inequalities on their own and pass the project off to them.
Daniel Sarijore - Co-Founder, In Country Representative, Kenya
Danny is originally from the Maasai community that we’re working in. He lives locally in Kenya and has been an advocate for womens rights within his community for most of his life. He has a background in non profit projects dealing with education and at risk youth. Currently Danny and his family are taking care of our students and are our eyes and ears on the ground in Kenya.

Teresa Hernandez-Lara - Advisory Board Member
Teresa Hernandez-Lara is an advisory board member for The Hiari Project, assisting with communication and marketing materials. She leads Global Photo Production for Levi Strauss in San Francisco. She brings digital marketing expertise to The Hiari Project. Teresa has served in a variety of leadership roles, including building programs for The Red Tab and the Levi Strauss Foundation, but is most passionate about educating girls internationally.
Teresa is from the Bay Area and lives in Moraga, California, with her daughters. The family enjoys the art and craft culture, the outdoors, family road trips, and hosting friends and family in their home.
Sintoya Parsanga - In Country Student Advocate and future leader of The Hiari Project, Kenya
Sintoya is one of the 1st 10 girls enrolled in The Hiari Project. She’s a strong advocate for women’s right to education. Since enrolling, she quickly became her class representative at school. She’s now a senior in high school and is already working to help other girls in her community who are running from FGM and child marriage. Sintoya is very excited to one day lead The Hiari Project, after she finishes School.
Julia Camp - Development Associate
Julia has background in documentary film and has worked with non profits to share their stories. She has had an interest in sustainable agriculture and social activism with an emphasis on women and farming. She has helped to promote community based efforts on issues of water scarcity, soil erosion, seed preservation and social justice. She enjoys helping share the stories of the individuals through film and photography.
Jen Yih - Development Associate
Jen is a writer and designer with a passion for womens rights issues. She has a keen eye for important current issues and a deep knowledge of marketing development. Her goal is to help us spread awareness and stop FGM altogether.
